Soul contracts, the rules and nodal leaps
For 10 years the 8 pillars of practice that make up 'the misfit to maven way' were the cornerstones of my life.
I shared them with thousands of 'misfits' who have also used them to go from feeling 'argh' about themselves, business and life - to feeling 'ahhh' and creating lives and businesses as extraordinary and unique as they are, that feel as good on the inside as they perhaps look on the outside.
Misfit to Maven; took 'misfits' from argh to ahhh, and helped them to own their experience and build lives and businesses based on it by recognising it as expertise.
One of the main 'hurdles' or point of question that I came up against for years was the word MISFIT. A word that me and my brand over time have been synonymous with, was questioned by mentors, peers and most clients.
Little known fact #1: The name for my book was given to me in a dream by my paternal grandmother, and Maven is an old Hebrew word meyvn meaning 'one who understands' , 'accumulator of knowledge' or 'expert by experience' - it has gone on to be widely used but really was not 11 years ago when I started using it.
Little known fact #2: Most of my 1:1 clients at some point or other tell me that they don't really identify themselves as a misfit.
The conversation often goes like this:
“I don't really think of myself as a misfit you know”
“Oh” I say “Do you feel like you fit in?”
They pause to think about how they want to word what they want to say, and while they do I ask:
“Where did you grow up?”
“Where do you live now?”
“What is your cultural heritage?”
“What languages do you speak?”
“How many countries have you lived in?”
“Do you have one group of friends that you've been friends with your whole life?”
“How do you feel about 'the rules'?”
“Have you ever felt seen, heard and understood personally and professionally?”

OR, I'm on a podcast, or guesting in a peers community for the first time and they introduce me as a rebel, or as 'unapologetically authentic' and I wince because
- I'm not a rebel; I have spent most of my life trying to comply
- Who and why is anyone apologising for being authentic?
When I turned 42 I got answers to both of the conundrums under the word 'misfit' - turns out that what I was feeling and using the word 'misfit' for was actually 'undiagnosed autistic with adhd.' Or complex and largely misunderstood. Or highly intelligent empathic sensitive Being, with open root and head centres. Or a person with MASSIVE range, who's only using and expressing a very small part of it because they were conditioned to be artistic OR scientific and believe they had to choose a section of their self and treat is as if it were their whole.
For years, I felt like I was 'doing it wrong' and if I could just 'follow the rules better' I would be more understood and successful and in life and business - I tried to 'niche' and simplify my message by having one offer, one core message, one simple pathway or funnel and the more I tried, the more frustrated I became.
Enter Human Design.
Discovering that I am a Manifesting Generator, but not just a straight up MG, no… True to form I am not simple (ergo, I am a complicated misfit ) as I am a manifestor, generator - my personality is a Reflector, and my design is a Manifestor and my subtle wave, the channel of intimacy is half conscious and half unconscious making me an emotional authority, and a Generator type… was MASSIVE FOR ME!

Learning and then EMBODYING this up-level in self awareness and alignment has meant that a quantum (nodal) shift has taken place.

It turns out that I was not designed to have ONE anything, and with my South Node in gate 49 (the loving revolutionary) and my North node is in gate 4 (the forgiving philosopher) not only is the 'Misfit to Maven' journey written into my Soul Contract, but the shift into my new business model, focus and chapter makes so much sense!!
The 'rules' as seen on social media are not rules at all, they're trends, and as a timeless being, with my Purpose in gate 28 I am grounded in totality and immortality and it is no wonder these trends have never made sense to me… and that my undefined Head and Ajna has desperately tried to make them fit!
